The OHLE Installation Manager manages and coordinates overhead line equipment installation for the Tel Aviv Purple Line project. The role combines technical oversight, site coordination, subcontractor management and control of installation activities, working closely with the OHLE Project Manager, Design Team, OHLE supervisors and Global Construction Manager.

Main responsibilities

  • Coordinate on-site installation activities with subcontractors, other disciplines and third parties, maintaining regular communication with the OHLE Project Manager, Design Team and OHLE supervisors.
  • Plan installation activities around project interfaces and any additional tasks arising during execution. Monitor the overall project schedule and keep OHLE works progressing with minimal disruption and efficient use of time and cost.
  • Manage work permits, site access, track closures and power outages, including local coordination requiring Hebrew.
  • Manage and monitor the OHLE installation contractor and its subcontractor responsible for cable laying in ducts.
  • Review installation procedures with the installer and verify their suitability for the specific requirements of each project section.
  • Monitor material receipt across the warehouses, verify equipment and material requirements, and track the supply schedule. Promptly alert the OHLE Project Manager and Design Team to potential shortages.
  • Review and verify subcontractor certifications in coordination with the OHLE Project Manager.
  • Contribute to the preparation of client change orders and subcontractor variation orders with the OHLE Project Manager and Design Team, covering planning, cost and technical solutions.
  • Monitor the Quality Management System and coordinate with safety, interfaces, quality, purchasing and other relevant functions.
  • Propose technical and operational solutions, make decisions and negotiate with subcontractors and the Global Construction Manager. Demonstrated success in securing additional billing and achieving cost and schedule benefits on previous OHLE projects is highly valued.
  • Manage catenary testing and energization phases.
  • Monitor interfaces with other subsystems and coordinate with the civil engineering partner and on-site personnel.
  • Attend technical, administrative and coordination meetings, and communicate with the client and its representatives as needed.
  • Support continuous improvement by developing tools or processes that streamline OHLE construction management, including the digitization of work orders.

Qualifications and experience

  • Mechanical or Electrical Engineer, or a candidate with relevant, demonstrable experience.
  • At least 5 years of experience as a project engineer providing on-site technical assistance and/or as a catenary site manager.
  • Strong technical expertise in OHLE installation, supporting effective coordination and negotiation with catenary installation subcontractors and construction management.
  • Knowledge of overhead line systems, particularly railway systems operating at 1.5 kV DC, and an understanding of how urban environments affect OHLE works.
  • Knowledge of OHLE design standards EN 50119:2020 and EN 50124-2. Knowledge of EN 50122-1:2022 and other applicable standards is preferred.
  • Knowledge of mechanical calculations and their implications for OHLE installation processes and requirements.

Technical skills and languages

  • Intermediate proficiency in AutoCAD 2D (DWG), basic AutoCAD 3D skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Experience with software for specific catenary calculations, including bracket and hanger calculations, is an advantage.
  • Experience working with BIM methodology is valued.
  • English at B2 level or above; C1 is preferred.
  • Hebrew knowledge for local matters, including permits.

  • Effective coordination and communication across internal teams, subcontractors and external stakeholders.
  • Availability to work night shifts.
  • Availability for extended international assignments and an interest in international work.
  • Valid category B driving licence.
