JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Carbody & running Gear Engineer will be involved in several technical activities related with the design of the carbody and running gear of the rolling stock. This extends from requirements management, through design, produce purchasing specifications and technical documentation, support material procurement, customer interfacing during design review process, and support industrialization activities. It will also be under his/her responsibility to manage and assure the cost, timing & quality of the engineering packages outsourced to Indian Subcontractors.

For this duty, the Mechanical Engineer in India will work closely with the company’s headquarters engineers.

KEY RESPONSABILITIES: 

• To develop and deliver high quality engineering design work for allocated design packages of various parts of carbodies and running gear such as carbody structures, steel and aluminum parts, mechanical assemblies, FEM calculations, etc within defined timescales. Both for local projects and international projects as a Best Cost Centre.
• Work closely with other project engineers to ensure proper coordination to achieve overall design integrity.
• Ensure designs are compliant to customer and legislative requirements, including design review and design verification and validation process.
• Management of outsourcing engineering and consultancies.
• Support customer design review process (produce technical documentation and attend design review meetings)
• Work with suppliers to ensure designs are fit for purpose.
• Adapt current product solutions and develop new designs for Indian projects (ensure re-use of design)
• Solve problems by taking a new perspective on existing solutions.
• Supports industrialization and production teams during manufacturing and validation.

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS:

Qualification:

• Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering (BEng)
• Scoring: IWE/EWE degree (International Welding Engineer/European Welding Engineer )

Professional Experience:

• Experienced (a minimum of 3 years) in railway (rolling stock) design and develop various mechanical parts (Carbody and/or Running gear), either new build, retro-fitment, modification or refurbishment, including the ability to understand the inputs required to support the development of a successful design, and the ability to produce designs which accommodate the product lifecycle (manufacture, install, test, operate, maintain, remove, dispose).
• Advanced knowledge of calculations of aluminum and steel structures.
• Desirable knowledge on the Indian Engineering hub market in order to develop a pool of engineering services at best cost.

Skills:

• Advanced knowledge in CAD design tools (3d Experience and CATIA V5)
• Very good interpersonal and organization skills, open minded, excellent abilities for team work.
• Ability to lead a team of inhouse and/or external partner
• Good knowledge of MS Office, DOORS and Teams tools. Scoring: Trello, Clockify,
• Good understanding of manufacturing processes and construction methods
• Availability for frequent travelling within India and Spanish Headquarters.
• Very Good English both written and Spoken
• Ability to build a network of collaborators within India.
