What will be your role in the company?

 

The HRBP supports the Head of HR & Support Services, delivering a rnage of legislatively / regulatory compliant HR services within the UK Subsidiary of Rail Services. This wide-ranging role provides a broad range and varied degree of operational and strategic challenges across the full employee lifecycle partnering with the distinct stakeholder group with the added complexity of operating within a matrix organisation and a services business delivering against customer requirements. 

 

The role requires someone to be proactive, pragmatic and a multi-tasker who is adept at delivering in a unionised environment.

 

Your daily duties will include:

 

  • Support the Head of HR & Support Services in the preparation and implementation of the HR Plan to support the overall strategic aims and objectives of the business. 
  • Coach, support and provide expert guidance and training to assigned line Managers on the full range of HR activities (including policies and procedures, terms and conditions of employment, absence management, organisational redesign (including redundancy if appropriate), performance management, etc.), in order to provide a consistent and fair approach to people management and enable managers to deal with a wide range of employment issues.  
  • Ownership of all HR operational responsibilities across the employee lifecycle within a designated stakeholder group which includes, but is not limited to; recruitment and on-boarding of new starters, performance / probationary period management, monthly payroll, attendance management, talent and succession planning, exit interviews / leaver process etc.
  • Develop, implement and maintain HR policies and procedures to ensure effective, fair and consistent management of colleagues throughout CAF, and ensure that the associated documents (including colleague handbook) are comprehensive and up to date.  
  • Partner and build strong relationships with management teams and stakeholders within a defined group to demonstrate business partnering in identifying solutions to meet a range of business requirements. 
  • Produce and deliver strong and fit for purpose internal and external communications as required to underpin delivery of the role, objectives and KPIs.
  • Analyse and report monthly on all required HR data and metrics, sharing the information with stakeholders as required and making decisions to drive improvement.  Support the periodic reporting requirements as required.
  • Work with the L&D Partner and Training team to ensure deliverables relating to individual or collective training / learning & development needs are met, appropriate provisions are sourced and that all activities are accurately recorded.   
  • Manage the information held on the HR database(s) to ensure it is updated in a timely and accurate manner and complies with any legal requirements.
  • Collaborate with HSQE colleagues on all Health & Safety matters in line with agreed Trade Union collective bargaining agreements and in line with appropriate legislation as well as matters relating to health & wellbeing, occupational health and medical referrals. 
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with colleagues across the business (internal customers / stakeholders) including those relevant colleagues working for CAF S.A and CAF Rail Services in Beasain.

 

What will make you successful in this position?

 

  • Proven previous experience in Business Partnering stakeholder groups, ideally in a similar industry or environment, where success can be tracked and demonstrated by the tangible or demonstratable positive impact you can detail within the business.
  • A wide range of experience in supporting line managers through a range of ER disputes through coaching, training, upskilling as well as guiding them through the challenges.
  • The ability to thrive in both operational and strategic settings interchangeably given the varied nature of the role and activities required to undertake.
  • Proven experience as a HR lead supporting the business through complex HR processes such as restructures / redundancies, TUPE In/Out, etc
  • Up to date Employment law knowledge and the ability to translate this into policies, processes and training material which are aligned to the culture of an organisation.
  • Previous experience of working with Trade Unions is essential – negotiating on pay claims and working with the unions on a variety of aspects regarding employee welfare, terms & conditions, policies etc.
  • An understanding of a services business, where customer demands/requirements must be balanced and met and where this can lead to particular challenges for your company, your stakeholders, and the support you provide to them.
  • IT skills; Adept at working with multiple systems, strong use of MS Office products such as PowerPoint, Excel and Teams.
