What will be your role in the company?
In this role, you will support the development, creation, organisation, and delivery of technical training for the CAF Rail UK Overhaul Facility. Working as part of the Training & Competence team, you will help translate engineering knowledge, depot practices, and overhaul processes into structured, effective training materials suitable for maintenance, operations, and technical support staff.
You will gather technical information from engineering and production teams, assist with building multimedia learning resources, support senior trainers in delivering classroom and hands‑on training, and maintain accurate training and competence records. You will also help ensure training content aligns with Railway Group Standards, industry codes of practice, and CAF Rail UK’s engineering and safety procedures.
This role offers a strong development pathway into a technical training career within the UK rail industry and provides hands‑on exposure to modern rolling stock systems and engineering processes.
What will make you successful in this position?
- Level 3 qualification in mechanical or electrical engineering.
- Understanding of heavy maintenance practices or relevant engineering processes.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts into learner‑friendly language.
- High IT literacy, including experience producing structured documents, presentations, and digital content, ideally using LMS or digital authoring tools.
- Strong attention to detail and a proactive, solutions‑focused mindset.
- Comfortable working across management, engineering, and technical teams, building productive working relationships.
- Commitment to safety, quality, competence, and continuous improvement.
- Self‑motivated, organised, and keen to develop into a fully qualified technical training professional.
What Salary will you be paid for this role?
As a Real Living Wage Employer, we are proud to pay competitively at CAF. For this role you will be offered a salary in the region of £38,000 per annum.
