What will be your role in the company?

The role of Production Manager includes providing maintenance planning and technical support to team leaders and technicians.  As the Production Manager, you will oversee the production process, coordinating all planned and unplanned activities to deliver vehicles for use in passenger service. The role may also on occasion involve some UK travel to specific project locations to engage with other CAF projects.

 

Your daily duties will include:

 

  • Plan and organise the ongoing corrective repairs of the vehicles, prioritising work in order of safety, reliability, and client request
  • Provide technical support to the technicians and team leaders
  • Working with the Maintenance Engineer, schedule in vehicles for planned maintenance in accordance with the maintenance plan
  • Plan and draw up an implementation schedule for modifications and fleet campaigns, producing weekly or as agreed, regular reports showing progress vs plan
  • Release WOs in GMAO for fleet modifications and campaigns  
  • Liaise with engineering & maintenance departments, client, and other key stakeholders to deliver the vehicles for passenger service in line with the agreed plan
  • Produce specific implementation plans for more complex tasks where there is a significant impact or risk to daily operations of the vehicles
  • Organise supplier or other third-party site attendance to undertake specialist repairs
  • Collate and analyse data, generating production reports for the project
  • Working with the Materials Manager, ensure stock levels remain at adequate levels to support all maintenance and modification work undertaken on the vehicles
  • Drive efficiencies by reviewing and improving all processes and interactions with key stakeholders
  • Maintain a high level of quality standards, with all work completed in accordance with industry, site, and company standards.
  • Produce RAMS or other site-specific method statements and work instructions
  • Agree vandalism material usage and produce summary vandalism report
  • Undertake and support internal and external audits
  • Supervise, motivate, and lead the CAF maintenance teams
  • Monitor competence levels of technicians, planning in assessments

 

What salary will you be paid for this role?

 


As a Real Living Wage Employer, we are proud to pay competitively at CAF. For this role you will be offered a salary in the region of £64,000 per annum.  

 

What will make you successful in this position?

 

To succeed in this role, you will need:

 

  • Recognised project or people management qualification
  • Relevant engineering qualification
  • Proven previous experience in a production planning and people management role
  • Previous experience working in an engineering or rail environment
  • Understanding of onboard vehicle systems and components
  • Clear understanding of Safety Critical work
