OVERVIEW:

The Training Manager is responsible for enhancing the technical competencies and soft skills of CAF USA’s workforce, ensuring alignment with industry standards and organizational goals. The Training Manager will develop and facilitate both credit and non-credit courses tailored to the unique requirements of rail car manufacturing. Responsibilities include designing comprehensive training materials, establishing measurable learning outcomes, and organizing various training modalities, such as classroom instruction, e-learning, and labs. The Training Manager will also oversee the integration of training data into the HR training database, ensuring adherence to ISO and regulatory standards, while fostering a culture of continuous learning and development within the organization.

FUNCTIONAL DESCRIPTION:

  • Develop and implement an annual training calendar that aligns with organizational objectives, ensuring all training programs meet ISO standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate closely with Department Heads, Managers, and Supervisors to establish a comprehensive skill matrix, conduct thorough training needs assessments, and ensure workforce competencies are aligned with industry benchmarks.
  • Strategically deploy targeted training programs within each department, coordinating with external educational partners to enhance and optimize learning outcomes.
  • Construct a detailed On-the-Job Training (OJT) matrix in collaboration with departmental leaders to facilitate continuous employee growth and skill development.
  • Design, update, and refine instructional materials, including structured classroom agendas, detailed curricula, and practical lab exercises, to maintain rigorous standards of technical knowledge and quality assurance.
  • Facilitate specialized technical training for production staff, testing department, warehousing, and quality inspection to equip personnel with the competencies necessary to achieve CAF USA’s quality and safety standards.
  • Administer the training budget with fiscal responsibility, ensuring resource allocation sustains and advances training initiatives effectively.
  • Develop in-depth instructor resources, including comprehensive course outlines, background materials, and multimedia aids, to support the delivery of high-quality instruction.
  • Pursue continuous improvement in training methodologies, mentoring fellow instructors/supervisors in subject matter expertise, curriculum development, and effective teaching approaches.
  • Ensure course content consistency and rigor throughout its lifecycle, utilizing evaluations and feedback mechanisms to guide iterative refinements.
  • Enhance assessment and testing protocols to align with certification requirements and regulatory compliance, ensuring robust standards are met across all training areas.

TRAINING/EDUCATION REQUIRED:

  • Bachelors’ degree in Engineering, Teaching and/or Adult Education.  Masters degree preferred.
  • 5-7 years’ experience in manufacturing.  Rail, Aerospace, Automotive experience is highly desired
  • Knowledge of ISO requirements a must

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills.
  • Highest standards of accuracy and precision; highly organized.
  • Articulate with excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to think creatively, highly-driven and self-motivated
  • Demonstrated ability to roll-up sleeves and work with team members in a hands-on capacity

SAFETY REQUIRMENTS:

  • Shall report all injuries/illnesses to their supervisor that occur at work, the day of the incident
  • Shall report any unsafe conditions that are identified in their respective work area to their supervisor
  • Shall comply with all CAF USA safety policies, procedures, and requirements that are communicated to them, including Job Safety Analysis (JSA) procedures
  • Shall wear all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) that is communicated and supplied to them
  • Shall keep their respective work area clean and orderly at all times
  • Shall attend all CAF USA required training as soon as possible before the start of their assigned work
  • Shall NOT operate any CAF USA equipment (forklifts, cranes, scissor lifts) until certified to do so

The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $80,000 to $100,000 annually.
