Overview

The QA Engineer is responsible for maintaining smooth operations at equipment and material supplier facilities. They are adept at identifying and solving problems and possess solid communication and managerial skills.

Functions and responsibilities

  • Responsible for investigating, analyzing, and solving issue in quality, production and control at a supplier facilities.
  • Perform video calls with suppliers to explain CAF requirements for alignment in advance of supplier audits/visits.
  • Performs supplier audits and creates associated reports for both general QMS and special processes.
  • Represents sourcing and procurement in projects, acts as an active member on the project teams and interfaces and collaborates closely with related project sub-functions like engineering, industrial planning, project planning etc. to achieve common procurement and project objectives.
  • Performs FAIs and source inspections at supplier facilities and creates associated reports.
  • Participates is supplier selection.
  • Participates in technical project reviews to orient and influence technical decisions according to global cost of purchase and risk evaluation considerations.
  • Manages implementation and tracking for supplier FMIs.
  • Performs weekly MRB (Material Review Board) to drive non-conformances (NCR) to closure.
  • Creates/reviews MQRs (material quality reports), shares reports with suppliers, and drives corrective action to prevent repeat issues on future deliveries.

Training/Education required

  • Bachelor Degree in Engineering, Procurement, or related field required or equivalent experience in a US military branch
  • Possess an understanding for RCCA (Root Cause Corrective Action) Analysis
  • Strong skills in supplier and customer relations as well as management
  • Strong technical skills for creating reports.
  • Microsoft Software suite, specifically Excel knowledge is a must.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • At least five years of professional experience with preferably one supply chain function (procurement, sourcing, and quality)
  • Strong knowledge of Supply Chain (Sourcing, Procurement & Logistics) processes and best practices
  • Knowledge about related engineering functions and processes preferred
  • Exposure to project and contract management desired
  • Analytical skills and strong planning skills
  • Ability to build up constructive relationships, resilience and focus, influencing, networking, strong communication skills both oral and written
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Adequate presentation, negotiation, organizational and time management skills with the ability to work autonomously and creatively
  • Strong work ethic
  • Positive attitude with a company driven focus

Safety Requirements

  • Shall report all injuries/illnesses to their supervisor that occur at work, the day of the incident
  • Shall report any unsafe conditions that are identified in their respective work area to their supervisor
  • Shall comply with all CAF USA safety policies, procedures, and requirements that are communicated to them, including Job Safety Analysis (JSA) procedures
  • Shall wear all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) that is communicated and supplied to them
  • Shall keep their respective work area clean and orderly at all times
  • Shall attend all CAF USA required training as soon as possible before the start of their assigned work
  • Shall NOT operate any CAF USA equipment (forklifts, cranes, scissor lifts) until certified to do so

The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $75,000 to $95,000 annually.
