Mission of the position
Quality Receiving inspectors shall interact daily with their team lead/supervisor to discuss priorities and scheduling for the day/weeks ahead. In addition to performing visual and functional inspections, this person is responsible for processing the results of the inspection using the CAF ERP system as well as creating any supplemental reports when necessary. This includes, Non-conformance Reports (NCRs), Material Quality Reports (MQRs), etc. Building a team atmosphere and supporting fellow team members in growth and understanding is required.
Functions and responsibilities
- Utilize drawings, inspection criteria, engineering instructions, etc. to ensure assemblies are meeting design requirements and customer expectations.
- Review supplier documentation, including test reports, material certifications, etc., for accuracy and compliance.
- Contact directly to suppliers in order to get all missing documentation/certs needed
- Possible visits to local suppliers to carry out initial inspections before the material is shipped to CAF.
- Review modifications and inspect the associated material in stock.
- Title and file all documentation correctly in SharePoint, local drives, Teams, etc.
- Make any corrections to documentation as requested by management
- Request purges and inspect the associated stock when required.
- Assist in root cause analysis by performing additional inspections/measurements on non-conforming material
- Identify the cause for repeating or significant defects found with received material and provide feedback to prevent recurrence and reduce the amount of over cost.
- Create Material Quality Reports (MQRs) for supplier related issues and share with SQA. Work directly with SQA as needed to fully understand and document the issue.
- Prepare Non-Conforming Reports (NCRs) in Baan for material issues. Ensure NCR material is properly tagged and contained in designated locations. Participate in the material review board (MRB) as required.
- Prepare reports and other documentation such as quality alerts, corrective actions, etc.
- Complete fleet wide inspections as needed for internal and/or supplier issues (FMIs)
- Assist in process improvement within QA and with other departments
- Additional responsibilities may be added or amended at any time to reflect changing business conditions.
Training required
- High school diploma or equavalency. A two year technical degree is a plus.
- 3+ years of expereince in production or quality control preferred.
- Microsoft Excel knowledge is a must.
- Knowledge of ISO-9001 preferred but not required
Qualifications/Requirements
- Ability to work in a start-up, high pressure environment
- Must be self-motivated team player with strong interpersonal skills essential for day to day operations.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
- Understanding oral and written Spanish highly desirable but not mandatory
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs
Safety Requirements
- Shall report all injuries/illnesses to their supervisor that occur at work, the day of the incident
- Shall report any unsafe conditions that are identified in their respective work area to their supervisor
- Shall comply with all CAF USA safety policies, procedures, and requirements that are communicated to them, including Job Safety Analysis (JSA) procedures
- Shall wear all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) that is communicated and supplied to them
- Shall keep their respective work area clean and orderly at all times
- Shall attend all CAF USA required training as soon as possible before the start of their assigned work
- Shall NOT operate any CAF USA equipment (forklifts, cranes, scissor lifts) until certified to do so

The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $22.00 to $27.00 per hour.
