Overview

A Quality Engineer is generally responsible for maintaining smooth operations in production regarding quality processes and material supplies. They are adept at identifying and solving problems, and possess solid communication and project management skills.

Functions and responsibilities

  • Responsible for investigating, analyzing and correcting problems in production and at supplier locations.
  • Perform audits and implement new strategies.
  • Represents sourcing and procurement in projects, acts as active member on the project teams and interfaces and collaborates closely with related project sub-functions like engineering, industrial planning, project planning etc. to achieve common procurement and project objectives.
  • Leads and drives the implementation of the Sourcing strategies
  • Leads supplier selection
  • Participates in technical project reviews to orient and influence technical decisions according to global cost of purchase and risk evaluation considerations.
  • Is responsible for all commercial related communication with the suppliers
  • Interfaces, interacts and collaborates with the Key Commodity management
  • Reports status (QCD, risks & opportunities) and progress on a regular basis
  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor or manager

Required education/training/professional experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Procurement, or related field required.
  • Possess an understanding of Design Failure Mode Effect Analysis (DFMEA) and Process Failure Mode Effect Analysis (PFMEA).
  • They should also have an understanding of the Six Sigma concept
  • Microsoft Software suite, specifically Excel knowledge is a must.
  • Must have experience in APQP, PPAP, FAI, and GDT

Safety requirements

  • Shall report all injuries/illnesses to their supervisor that occur at work, the day of the incident
  • Shall report any unsafe conditions that are identified in their respective work area to their supervisor
  • Shall comply with all CAF USA safety policies, procedures, and requirements that are communicated to them, including Job Safety Analysis (JSA) procedures
  • Shall wear all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) that is communicated and supplied to them
  • Shall keep their respective work area clean and orderly at all times
  • Shall attend all CAF USA required training as soon as possible before the start of their assigned work
  • Shall NOT operate any CAF USA equipment (forklifts, cranes, scissor lifts) until certified to do so
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.

The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $75,000 to $95,000 annually.
