Overview

The successful candidate will support the logistics of the Materials Department. The Logistics Coordinator is accountable for developing and executing the coordination and tracking of incoming and outgoing materials & supplies. Also responsible for working with the Vendors, Activation and Production Departments while ensuring smooth transaction of materials in and out of facility.

Functions and responsibilities

  • Main tasks include inbound goods receipt, putaway, picking, packing, production line replenishment, outbound shipments
  • Follow internal procedures to manage income material properly. Use of the ERP mandatory (Baan or SAP).
  • Operational duties to include coordination with shippers, truckers, steamship lines and overseas offices for the import & export of shipments
  • Complete process of shipment includes arranging for pick up or inland transportation, booking, document preparation (bill of lading, certificate of origin, export declaration and, or AES, if applicable) forwarding, follow up with tracking and tracing to final destination and data quality requirement
  • Customer Service responsibilities include maintaining communication with vendor, shipper, customer, carrier and choosing proper routing appropriate to the company needs
  • Immediately report problems, operation disputes or discrepancies to Supervisor and Manager. Resolve issues respective to meeting client requirements, data input - general customer service inquiries related to tracking and tracing
  • May also have additional responsibilities in accordance with supporting specific department(s), division(s) and, or be tasked with specific, individualized assignments 
  • Ability to work as Warehouse Coordinator as required
  • All other duties as assigned
  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor or manager

Training/education required

  • High school diploma or G.E.D. Certificate and one to two years of increasingly responsible experience in a warehouse facility

 

  • Forklift certification, or must be able to obtain certification by passing forklift testing within 60 days of employment
  • Overhead crane certification
  • Proven experience in coordination of freight requirements
  • Must have excellent knowledge of all logistics aspects; both import and export, as it relates to air, ocean and ground services
  • Strong background in working with Senior Staff and Stake Holders
  • Excellent computer skills including data entry and MS programs, Word, Excel and Outlook. Microsoft Excel knowledge is a must
  • Spanish language a plus but not required

Qualifications/requirements

  • Ability to work in a startup, high pressure environment
  • Excellent analytical skills required as well as the ability to problem solve and question uncertain data and information
  • Additional core skills and abilities include extremely professional demeanor in all communications with customers and service providers, both in writing and by phone
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Must be self-motivated team player with strong interpersonal skills essential for day to day operations
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Understanding oral and written Spanish highly desirable
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.

Safety requirements

  • Shall report all injuries/illnesses to their supervisor that occur at work, the day of the incident
  • Shall report any unsafe conditions that are identified in their respective work area to their supervisor
  • Shall comply with all CAF USA safety policies, procedures, and requirements that are communicated to them, including Job Safety Analysis (JSA) procedures
  • Shall wear all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) that is communicated and supplied to them
  • Shall keep their respective work area clean and orderly at all times
  • Shall attend all CAF USA required training as soon as possible before the start of their assigned work
  • Shall NOT operate any CAF USA equipment (forklifts, cranes, scissor lifts) until certified to do so

The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $20 per hr to $25 per hr.
