What will be your role in the company?

The role of Senior Production Manager involves the managing of resources and technical support to all Production staff, in coordination with the Engineering team.

 

As the Senior Production Manager, you will oversee the production processes, coordinating all planned and unplanned activities to deliver vehicles for use in passenger service, maximizing the availability of the fleet.

 

The role involves managing production in different sites and it sometimes may require travelling to specific project locations and engaging with other CAF projects.

 

Your daily duties will include:

  • Support Health and Safety Advisor to produce and review RAMS or other site-specific method statements.
  • Actively participate H&S inspections and audits.
  • Work with management to implement the Safety company's policies and procedures and lead by example.
  • Undertake competency assessments as required.
  • Ensure the Production Managers maintain all areas in line with the high standards of 5S.
  • Maintain a high level of quality standards, with all work completed in accordance with railway industry, site, and Company standards.
  • Undertake and support internal and external audits when required.
  • Monitor the production processes and adjust schedules as needed to be align with project requirements.
  • Working with the Planner Engineer to schedule the maintenance activities in accordance with the maintenance plan.
  • Working with the Materials Manager to organise supplier or other third-party site attendance to undertake specialist repairs.
  • Oversee progress and ensure the execution of fleet modifications and campaigns are carry out as per plan.
  • Prioritise and organise the ongoing maintenance activities to optimize the productivity and reduce additional cost
  • Oversee all preventive maintenance activities efficiency  of designated depots
  • Generate Additional Services reports per period and have a direct communication with the customer regarding vandalism incidents or large repairs resulting from external factors.
  • Optimisation of resources and materials in coordination with the LEO to find out and implement efficiency improvements.
  • Occasional travel is required of any designated depot.
  • Having a deep understanding of the contractual clauses related to the availability of the fleet and the Performance Regime related and taking the needed stands and decisions to protect the company’s interests based on that knowledge.

 

 

What salary will you be paid for this role?

  

As a Real Living Wage Employer, we are proud to pay competitively at CAF. For this role you will be offered a salary in the region of £70,000 per annum. In addition to your salary you will receive an accommodation allowance of £6,000 per annum, subject to statutory deductions.

 

 

What will make you successful in this position?

 

To succeed in this role you will need:

 

  • Minimum Level 3 of relevant engineering qualification
  • IOSH Certification
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in operations
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a production planning and people management role
  • Minimum 3 years of experience working in an engineering or rail environment.
  • Good understanding of onboard vehicle systems and components
