Maintenance Manager  - CAF Rail Australia

We are currently seeking a Maintenance Manager to secure overall accountability for the successful operation of our Maintenance Department for Canberra Light Rail.

 

Key Responsibilities of the role:

 

  • Leadership - lead and manage the complete maintenance requirements and the TMP (Technical Maintenance Plan) of the LRV fleet and the Canberra Depot in consultation with the Depot Manager and Client;
  • People Management – manage the Maintenance Dept team leaders, technicians (mechanical and electrical/electronic trades) and the Maintenance Planner/Admin role;
  • Stakeholder Management – act as intermediary between CAF Rail Australia and our customer on a daily basis and attend strategy and planning meetings as required;
  • Fleet Management – supervise and manage work planning and scheduling of predictive and reactive maintenance requirements, including planning of major component changes, modifications and special checks. 
  • Communication – ensure you implement routine and effective communication actions to ensure your team and the Management Team is always up to date with Maintenance Department activities and plans; share broader organisational information from CAF Spain, Canberra and other local projects.
  • Project Management – oversee the co-ordination, engagement and activity of outside contractors for all maintenance and depot project requirements;
  • Supply Chain – work closely with the Procurement Manager to ensure all tooling, component and equipment requirements are identified, planned and available as and when required;
  • Strategy – responsible for overall direction of all Maintenance activities to achieve
  • Continuous Improvement – identify, promote and analyse maintenance performance KPIs, along with routine review and update of existing procedures, protocols and procedures as required. Identify opportunities to improve business performance.
  • Health and Safety – work closely with the HSEQ Manager to ensure that all all Maintenance activities are conducted safely and comply with relevant legislation and industry best practice.
  • Ensure a safe and clean working environment by complying with all Australian health and safety, quality and environmental legislative requirements.
  • Team Player - be an effective and positive contributor to the Canberra management team comprising Depot Manager, Procurement Manager, HSEQ Manager and HR Manager.
  • Direct Reports – Team Leaders, Technicians and Planner/Administrator.

 

Required profile

 

Education:

 

Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, and relevant years’ experience, as follows:

 

Work Experience:

 

  • 5+ years' experience working in a leadership role within the maintenance department of the rail industry.
  • 10+ years' experience working in a maintenance leadership role in transport, defence or heavy industry.
  • Experience managing a substantial technical team.
