Mission of the position

The role as a Shipping Material Controller you will be responsible for the smooth running of shipments to all CAF customer basses and suppliers including collections, by sea, Air, and road transport. You will manage the daily login of all Baan shipments raising of paperwork, picking, packing dealing with both suppliers and customer hubs directly. You will manage all documentation relating to this, dealing with any enquires that arise and maintain communication with the warehouse, couriers/agents and customer depots to ensure smooth delivery of orders. Ensuring that all KPI’s are measured, adhered to, and fed back. Packing and loading vehicles with a forklift.

Functions and responsibilities

    1. Preparation of stock and distribution
    2. Planning of transportation
    3. Picking and packing of goods
    4. Insuring packing lists and commercial invoices are raised and sent with every delivery.
    5. Ensuring that proof of deliveries is completed and filed.
    6. Loading and closing of Baan shipping orders
    7. Managing of orders ready to be despatched
    8. Loading of shipments with external agents for tracking and collecting
    9. Liaising with purchasing for NCR’s and collections
    10. Setting up a sign off process shipping costs
    11. Working closely with all CAF Hubs insuring a smooth flow of parts
    12. Contacting Customs agents for approvals
    13. Raising of external and internal paperwork to support shipments inbound and outbound.

Training required

Desirable Qualifications:

Forklift (Counterbalance or Reach Truck) license and experience is essential.

ILM Level 4 Leadership & Management or equivalent

NVQ Level 2 or equivalent in a related field e.g. Warehousing, Logistics & Despatch

IOSH qualification or equivalent health and safety qualification.

Current First Aid at Work qualification.

Required professional experience

Previous experience running or controlling of a shipping department

Good knowledge of shipping process and experience of customs

Experience of using BAAN and the ability to investigate

Technical and/or practical knowledge valued

Strong organisational skills and able to use initiative.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
