ABOUT THE ROLE

 

This role of Materials Manager is to support project operations in delivering materials and services as and when required to maintain fleet service. They will report directly to the Project Operations Manager for direction and priorities and will work closely with both the Stores/Logistics and Procurement functions to fulfill all responsibilities.

 

Your daily duties will include:

 

  • Responsible for ensuring all depot materials and services are available to facilitate operations and the maintenance activities for the project
  • Monitor and maintain the ERP system, providing quality and accurate information
  • Liaise with Category Managers to ensure correct sourcing of components, the scheduling of OH activities and requirements that comply with specifications
  • Negotiate with suppliers to ensure service levels and repair float stocks are maintained for the project
  • Continually review stock holding levels and set minimum order levels based on stock availability, supplier lead times and consumption rates
  • Generate analytics and KPI’s for material consumptions and report to Operations Managers and Head of Departments
  • Engage with Clients Representatives and CAF Operations Manager daily to ensure all materials operations comply with contractual obligations
  • Assess and support to ensure all the Material Controllers on depot are trained in CAF Procedures and systems
  • Ensure all staff are trained and certified before undertaking any logistics and stores activities
  • Assist with any Stores and Logistics and Procurement staff training as and when required
  • Flexible approach to assisting with activities in other projects or locations
  • Ensure compliance with all HSQE requirements
  • On occasion carry out other activities to assist the business requirement.

ABOUT WHAT WE PAY

 

As a Real Living Wage Employer, we are proud to pay competitively at CAF. For this role you will be offered a salary in the region of £45,000 per annum. 

ABOUT YOU

 

To succeed in this role you will need:

  • 3rd Level qualification in a relevant Business or Engineering discipline
  • CIPS qualified or working towards is desirable
  • Proven previous experience in a Materials Management Role
  • Previous experience working in an Engineering or Rail environment is desirable
  • Understanding of Mechanical & Electrical systems and components is desirable
