Testing Technician

Mission of the position
CAF Group has signed an agreement with both the NS and Qbuzz to deliver two types of Rollingstock. Before the products can be delivered for public usage, the Testing Technician would need to perform, under leadership of the Testing Engineer, multiple software, hardware and electronic test at the main factory in Beasain and other testing facilities in Europe before the Rollingstock arrives in the Netherlands.
For the NS this would be the 30x 4-car units and 30x 6-car double-decker units as well as technical support for maintenance, with NS carrying out the maintenance itself. Qbuzz, part of FS Group, who has chosen CAF to supply 10 commuter trains, as well as a corresponding spare parts package, which are scheduled for delivery from 2028. The trains Qbuzz has chosen are part of the Civity platform and will be equipped with CAF's ETCS (European Train Control System) signaling system. They will be energy-efficient units designed to run at a speed of 160 km/h.
The position
The position needs a person that displays technical expertise, that can adapt to change, willing to accept responsibility, provide high quality work, building and supporting teams and can work safely. You as a person
You are someone that lives in the Netherlands and is willing to travel abroad for several months at a time. As a Testing Technician, you have a broad technical background (both electrical and mechanical), experience with troubleshooting and you are able to provide solutions for improving complex systems. You investigate defects, make diagnoses and provide technical information about the defects found. In addition, you write reports, discuss the analysis of the technical points with your supervisor and implement the solutions found. You work together in a small international team and are prepared to work different shifts, both during the week and in the weekend. A shift allowance is awarded for working in shifts. The Testing Technician reports to the Testing Engineer.
The candidate
- Has a minimum MBO 3 level in either Electrics, Electronics, Mechanical or Mechatronics.
- Has 1 to 3 years of experience in a comparable position in the railways, maritime, aviation or other relevant sector.
- Preferably has experience with the commissioning of electrical, electronic, pneumatic and mechanical systems.
- Is expected to travel and work with team members in Beasain, Spain and other EU countries;
- Is stress resistant and able to work under pressure.
- Is organized, detailed, efficient and assertive.
- Is eager to learn and are challenged by solving technical issues.
- Has excellent communication skills and is fluent in English.
Compensation & Benefits
- Definite contract of 1 year with one month probation period with possibility of extension.
- Min. € 3.200,- and max. € 3.800,- (Monthly Gross) depending on background and experience
- 14% Shift allowance based on the monthly salary.
- 27 holidays and 13 roster free days (ADV) per annum, based on 40 hours per week
- Travel allowance of € 0,23 per km for max. 50 km per day
- CAF is part of the Collective Labour Agreement Metalektro
- Training for safety certifications are provided and covered by the company
- Additional social skills training, such as language classes, can be provided as per accordance with the A+O Metalektro requirements.
