Commissioning Manager - Rollingstock

Job Description

The Commissioning Manager - Rollingstock manages the technical, quality and engineering related issues that may arise during the planning and execution of the testing & commissioning phase of the projects.

The location of the position will be in Eindhoven as this position are to test the new Amsterdam Metros (first metro arriving in January 2027) for the GVB and the Qbuzz trains for the Dordrecht Municipality (first train arriving in February 2027); subsequently, a move to Groningen to continue working on the DDNG (Double-decker New Generation train) project through 2032. 

The position is a key interfacing role managing interactions between the client and the different internal CAF departments/functions (predominantly the Testing and Final Assembly departments).

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Understand clients request and coordinate internal team for appropriate actions.
• Lead the establishment of the overall success criteria for the testing & commissioning phase of the projects, including time, cost, technical and performance parameters.
• Manage the integration of testing & commissioning work streams – including resolution of key interface issues.
• Collect all the needs of external resources from the different departments involved in the testing & commissioning phase and procure or request to the customer these resources.
• Coordinate the technical, quality and engineering related issues that arise during the testing & commissioning process.
• Ensure the projects adhere to any logistics-oriented compliance conditions imposed upon the project.
• Ensure personnel comply with all Dutch legislation and Company policy.
• Be fully familiar and conversant with department and company policies, procedures and processes, to ensure all work and actions undertaken are always fully compliant.
• Ensure the successful acceptance of the trains by the customer according to the project schedule.
• Record keeping: Ensure accurate records are completed and maintained in accordance with procedures in place, and work in progress is communicated to Line Managers and team members.
• Health, Safety & Environment: Ensure that all work carried out is compliant with health, safety and environmental legislation and Company policies and procedures.
• Quality:Ensure all work carried out is compliant with Company quality management systems/policies and procedures.Carry out quality checks to ensure, where relevant, product meets quality and safety standards

Profile of the Candidate

• Pro-active in the role and identifies improved ways of supporting the Company in managing its objectives.
• Participate as and when required in team and one-to-one meetings and undertake training relevant to the role.
• Keep up to date with developments within the Company and other sector wide practices that influence the day-to-day activities within the role, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and any other relevant external/internal factors, for example, Company policies and procedures, Quality, Health & Safety, and Environmental.
• Ensure, in the course of employment, complete confidentiality is maintained in respect of the Company, its dealings, transactions, and all other information relating to clients/ customers and staff.
• Promote the Company by whatever means are appropriate and available to ensure a positive image to customers/clients.

Requirements of Candidate

• Possess a tertiary qualification or equivalent in an engineering discipline
• Is willing to relocate within the Netherlands in different locations for a period of time such as Amsterdam and Roosendaal.
• Demonstrated experience in prioritising and managing multiple conflicting deadlines while maintaining a keen attention to detail.
• Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical information clearly and concisely.
• The ability to provide timely, customer-focused specialist engineering advice and support.
• Experience with office management software e.g. MS Office and SAP.

Experience of Candidate

• Has an engineering degree (bachelor level) in either Electrics, Electronics, Mechanical or Mechatronics.
• Have at least 2 years’ experience in similar or related roles.
• Knowledge and understanding of rolling stock systems.
• Knowledge of relevant Dutch, European and/or international rolling stock standards.
• Experience in Commissioning engineering designs.
• Highly developed problem-solving and analytical thinking skills.

Compensation & Benefits

• Definite contract of 1 year with one month probation period with possibility of extension.
• Min. € 5.600,- and max. € 6.800,- (Monthly Gross) depending on background and experience
• 27 holidays and 13 roster free days (ADV) per annum, based on 40 hours per week
• Travel allowance of € 0,25 per km for max. 50 km per day

• Training for safety certifications are provided and covered by the company
